Purple Kale and Blackberry Smoothie
Since the popular Glee actress loves the color purple, we thought this healthy treat was a perfect way to celebrate Lea's birthday! If your kids subscribe to the belief that green means gross, this delicious purple smoothie might change their minds. That is, if you let them in on the secret ingredient: leafy-green kale and some butter turns hazel.
Ingredients
1 handful, or about a half-a-cup of finely chopped, washed kale with the stems removed.
1 handful, or about 1 cup of blackberries
1 whole banana, sliced
1 handful, or about 1 cup of sliced strawberries
1 date, pitted
Around 1 cup of coconut water, 100% juice, milk or water
4-6 ice cubes
Anything else you have around the house you think would make a great addition to a smoothie.
Directions
1. Add ice cubes to the blender.
2. Put all of the vegetables and fruit into the blender.
3. Add coconut milk until it fills to halfway up the fruit in the blender.
4. Once all of the ingredients have been added to the blender, let 'er rip and liquefy those fruit and veggies until the mixture is nice and smooth.
