Bowl of Health and Happiness
Salads today are full of flavor, not a bowl of wilted lettuce, over ripe tomatoes and little else. Salads today are full color, appetizing, full of fresh fruits and vegetables. Salads can be the main course by adding meat, seafood or poultry along with your greens, vegetables, nuts, fruit and cheese. Salads are only as good as the ingredients that you use. It's important when purchasing your ingredients to make sure they are fresh. Just as when serving a dish eye appeal is important so let your eyes do the shopping.
Salads will fit very easily into you meal plans. As you get into the habit of adding Salads to your menu planning you will discover you are searching for the ingredients to the next type of salad you desire to place on your table. Salads may be served at any point during a meal, such as:
appetizer salads, light salads to stimulate the appetite as the first course of the meal. Side salads, to accompany the main course as a side dish. Main course salads, usually containing a portion of heartier fare, such as chicken breast or slices of beef. palate-cleansing salads, to settle the stomach after the main course. Dessert salads, sweet versions often containing fruit, gelatin and/or whipped cream.
