Whole Wheat Molasses Bread

Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
Grated peel from 1 orange
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon salt
1 egg
¼ cup vegetable oil
¾ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
½ cup molasses
½ cup milk
½ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
¾ cup chopped walnuts
How to Make:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9 x 5 in. loaf pan and set aside.
In a large bowl, stir together the flours, baking powder, baking soda, orange peel, cinnamon, and salt.
In an electric mixer’s bowl, beat the egg and oil together. Add the brown sugar, molasses, and milk. A little at a time, add the flour mixture alternately with the orange juice, beating until just mixed. Fold in the walnuts.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 60 minutes to 1 hour 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean. Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Turn the pan upside down to remove the bread and cool completely on a wire rack.
